The Terrebonne Parish School District recently asked those who could, to donate monetary donations, non-perishable foods, toiletries, and cleaning supplies to help victims of the recent Louisiana Floods. The response was overwhelming. Donations came in from employees, board members, students and members of the public. Donations were also received from the Volleyball Jamboree held at Terrebonne High School.
The donations filled 2 1/2 pallets. The items were taken to a collection center in Gonzales, Louisiana where they will be sorted and dispersed to needy families.
The Center Director, Rebecca Parks, stated, "We get a little worried when our center gets low on goods, and then people like you call to say you have a donation, and we Thank God that Louisiana has such great people." She went on to say that the center has also taken goods and donations from several other states as well.
TPSD would like to give special thanks to Ronald Labauve and Bluewater Rubber & Gasket Company of Houma and Baton Rouge for providing the transportation to get our supplies over to Gonzales.
